Praised for her captivating voice and stage presence across genres Norwegian singer, cellist and composer Hanna Trondalen is becoming known as an artist to watch. She has contributed to numerous recordings within the pop- and folk scene in Norway and abroad. Her voice has been utilized both as soundscape and special effect and she is known for singing and playing the cello simultaneously as well as employing the full range of the cello both as percussive instrument and melodic lead.

The artist has performed with several well-known Norwegian and international artists and continues to collaborate with musicians in Norway and abroad. She is a founding member of the concert series “Glad Jul i Sand Kirke” (more 

), which is set to go on a US tour in 2024. The artist is a sought after soloist with local brass bands, musicians and orchestras. In 2017 Ms. Trondalen toured and performed with composer Gisle Kverndokk and singer/author Øystein Wiik, where Ms Trondalen sang the part of Ursula and played the cello both in Kverndokk’s/Wiik’s chamber musical 

 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s theses. A versatile performer in the jazz, musical and gospel genre she made her debut at 14 years old in the internationally renowned Kongsberg Jazz Festival, both as a cellist and a jazz singer.

Based in Oslo, Norway her performances span from national tours and numerous concerts as a singer and cellist to international performances in i.e. Cologne, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York and Zanzibar as well as mainland Tanzania and Johannesburg, South Africa. She has toured internationally with the all-women competition choir “Voci Nobili” and performed her own songs on main stages in Norway, including the Norwegian Opera and Ballet.

She has performed and recorded with several Zanzibari Taarab orchestras and toured and traveled the Malagasi countryside. Her experience as being the first European female teacher within an Zanzibari-Arabic orchestra tradition as well as the first non-Zanzibari teacher on a traditional taarab instrument stays with her and is audible in her playing, composing and arranging.

Ms. Trondalen has composed for both stage and screen and her music for the short film “Last Days” won 1.price in the Oslo Short Film Festival as well as international accolades. The artist holds a Master in Musicology, with a specialization in Composing, Arranging and Music Performance.
